Garage Cabinets

What sizes do the cabinets come in?

Our standard cabinet depth is 24 inches and can range in height from 12 inches to 12 feet. However, since we manufacture the cabinets ourselves, we are able to accommodate other depths as well to suit your specific needs and available space.

What are they made of?

The cabinets are made of a durable thermo fused melamine finish. Unlike a vinyl product, it will not scratch, peel or fade.

What colors do they come in?

They are available in Maple, Whitewash Oak, Knotty Pine and Cherry finishes.

Do the cabinets have adjustable shelves?

Fixed shelves provide much more stability and strength. That is why we take extra time to discuss with you the type of storage you are looking for, and carefully configure the shelving to accommodate your specific needs. However, adjustable shelves are offered as an option.

I want to do cabinets and floor coating in my garage. Do I have to do the floor coating before I get the cabinets?

Not at all. Actually, doing the cabinets first gives you a place to store your things and have them out of the way.

What If I want to hose out my garage? Can the cabinets get wet?

Yes. This product is also water resistant. In addition, we seal around the bottom of the cabinets for that very purpose.

How long does it take to install the cabinets?

Installation of the storage cabinets usually takes just one day.

Are the cabinets easy to keep clean?

Any smudges or grease marks can be wiped away using a general purpose household cleaner such as 409©, Fantastik®, etc. Acetone may even be used for tough grease marks.

Is there a travel charge for doing estimates and installations?

No, as long as you are located in the Front Range from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins.

Do the cabinets come with a warranty?

Yes. The warranty is as follows: The cabinets are warranted to be free from defects in materials and workmanship. Should any part of the cabinets be defective, they will be repaired or replaced at seller's option, free of charge for the life of the purchaser. Proof of purchase must be provided to Out of Sight, Inc. to obtain benefits of this warranty.

The warranty becomes void if the cabinets have been damaged by negligence, accident or mishandling, or have not been used in accordance with the seller's recommendation or have been altered or repaired by persons other than those from Out of Sight, Inc.

No other warranty, expressed or implied, including merchantability applies to this product. Out of Sight, Inc. does not assume any responsibility for consequential damages occasioned by the product, or inconvenience. Certain states prohibit limitation of warranties. You may have certain rights in some states.

Garage Floor Coatings

Why does Out of Sight, Inc. use Epoxy and Polyurethane? Most companies just use Epoxy, don't they?

Epoxy is the superior material to attach to a freshly etched concrete surface (which is the base coat of all of our floors). Polyurethane is superior to Epoxy from the standpoint of UV resistance, abrasion resistance, chemical resistance, long-term durability, maintenance and shine. We use FLEXMAR polyaspartic coatings for the best durability.

I just built a new home. How will you prepare the floor before coating it?

New or old, we prepare all raw concrete floors the same way. We start by grinding away any areas of concrete or stucco spillage. Oil and grease stains are treated and degreased. The floor is acid washed and scrubbed with a large commercial floor machine to ensure a thorough, deep etching. The floor is then neutralized and a final rinse is done.

I have noticed some small cracks in my floor. What can be done with these?

Most open cracks will be repaired. Additionally, larger surface imperfections will also be repaired.

How long does it take to install a floor, and when can I park my car in the garage?

Solid Color - The installation process generally takes 2 days and your car can be parked on the floor typically 5 days following the installation of the final coat.

Granite-look - The installation process generally takes 4 days and your car can be parked on the floor typically 7 days following the installation of the final coat.

Either system will accept light foot traffic within a few hours.

My garage is full of "stuff". What do we do with it while the floor is being coated?

It is the homeowner's responsibility to remove all possessions from the garage. If you wish, or need, our crews will move your possessions for you at a rate of $85.00 per hour plus travel time. Storage containers can also be provided. Please contact our office for further details regarding this service.

Isn't Polyurethane flammable? What about the smell?

Polyurethane is flammable only in the fluid form. The vapor/odor emitted by the curing product is NOT flammable, and is only considered harmful during extensive, prolonged exposure. People who consider themselves sensitive to odors are encouraged to stay away from the area being coated during the installation process and at least 4 hours after the initial reaction phase of the two-part component. The odor will dissipate completely overnight in most cases.

Besides appearance, is there any advantage to Simulated Granite over a Solid Color?

From a cleanliness standpoint, the multiple colors and textured finish of a Simulated Granite Finish will hide more dirt and spills and look cleaner longer than a Solid Color Floor. Additionally, having five layers of material, the Simulated Granite finish will have more impact and scratch resistance, such as dropping or dragging a tool or heavy object on the floor.

What do you recommend for cleaning the new floor?

We recommend mixing 5-6 ounces of CLEAR ammonia per gallon of water in a mop bucket. A large headed string/rag mop works best, with a wringer mechanism on your mop bucket.

Special Note: We highly recommend against the use of any soap based product as these leave a film which not only reduces the shine in the floor, but can also become extremely slippery when the floor gets damp or wet.

How long does the floor coating last?

We have heard and read stories of Simulated Granite finish floors done in the 60's that after the renewal of the clear finish coat look like brand new again. Under normal circumstances and with proper care, a solid color floor should have a life expectancy of 10-15 years.

Do you provide a warranty with the floor coating?

All flooring done indoors carries a five year limited warranty against peeling, staining or material defects. Commercial installations are warranted for a 2-year period.
